Our Founding Story
Founded by Farida Abd el Hak, an immigrant and high school student, RECLAIM FEE (Freedom & Equity in Education) was created to help immigrant and low-income students succeed in high school.
She believed that success can be more than test scores and grades. She also believed that disadvantaged students' success outside the classroom shouldn’t be limited due to fees and lack of access. As a result, RECLAIM FEE is dedicated to improving access to educational opportunities outside the classroom. Her first initiative was creating the first extensive list of 110+ free programs for high school students. She went on to build resource libraries of high school competitions and programs that offer scholarships to immigrants.
Wishing to explore the impact of educational opportunities at a more personal level, she is currently working to publish "A Way Around,” a blog highlighting non-traditional education experiences ranging from high student directors to the value of community college.
